Post Office Yoga in Memory of Stephanie Black
Our dear Deer Isle Postmaster Stephanie Black departed this realm on April 27. Like so many women on this island and in this village, she was a force. Stephanie was also the biggest fan of DIYS PO Yoga. To honor her memory, please join me for a special free practice - mats and props provided by DIYS or bring your own. Bundle up.
If you are led to make a donation, I will give all funds received to a cause dear to our dear Stephanie.
All love.

APRIL 2024 UPDATE
Update: DIYS will likely reopen in early May.
Recently I was walking the rocky shore at low tide in the spring sunshine. For an immeasurable moment I seemed to think of nothing at all, absorbed in a feeling of pure equilibrium - or so I "thought".
Yogic philosophy teaches us about the principles of purusha (pure consciousness) and prakriti (nature/matter). Everything in the material world of prakriti is composed of the three gunas: sattva (purity), rajas (passion), and tamas (inertia). They are constantly at play and our minds fluctuate. The real and tangible realm of Prakriti is the field of experience - we observe, become aware, develop intelligence.
Without the interplay of rajas and tamas within the material sphere, sattva would never be even touched - not even on a sparkling, warming Spring afternoon at low tide, when the wind relaxes into stillness.
